Origin

Barahona stretches picturesquely along the southwestern Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic. This area is well-known for coffee cultivation, benefiting from a unique natural environment. The local climate skillfully mixes sunny days with rainy ones, providing ideal conditions for 4-5 cycles of coffee flowering at varying intensities. This leads farmers and coffee pickers to return to the same tree an average of five to six times.
The Dominican Republic was one of the first colonies to receive coffee seeds from Martinique in the early 18th century. Small farms produce high-quality coffee that thrives in ideal conditions at altitudes of about 1500 meters. Extremely small yields of just 250 kg per hectare and manual selection ensure remarkable quality. The Barahona region, located in the northwest of the island, is considered the best coffee-growing area in the country. The raw coffee is washed and sun-dried.
This LavatoArabica revives the tradition of the beloved Haitian coffees of the 1950s.
